I'm in the market for a TLB and have found the forum to be very useful. I actually have less than an acre but will be undertaking several construction projects. Would the BX23 be able to easily dig 150' of footings? I have several tree stumps to remove 12"-18" dia. Pretty big, but could it take them out if I dig far enough around them? I need to grade an area for a patio, remove several inches of soil and dig some fence posts. Like many projects, this will occur over an extended period of time. In the past, I've had a hard time finding a machine and operator to come out for smaller jobs. Thanks!

it would take a considerable amout of time to dig 150' with a bx they have a very shallow bucket. have you looked at the b21 or L35. they are a little bigger and still have the three point and pto ....

I must respectfully disagree.
The BX will be perfect for the jobs you have outlined. It would make no sense to me to double the price of the T/L/B just to get a wider bucket.
I just pulled a large cottonwood stump two days ago with my 4115, which is in the same power class as the BX.
The key is to be smarter than the stump. If gale force winds can't uproot the tree than you aren't going to jerk it out of the ground with a small tractor.
I dug a 7-8 foot circle around it about 2 feet deep. In the process I located a strong, thick root-branch and cut it about 3-4 feet from the main stem.
When I had a nice "moat" around the tree and all the roots I could see clipped, I latched unto the biggest root branch with a chain and used the tractor to twist it from 2 o'clock to about 6:30. Then I took a new angle and pulled it to about 9:00. That is a force mother nature does not apply to tree roots and after three pulls it was ready to come up and out of the ground.
The BX23 is a great value and is perfect for smoother lots under 5 acres.

I just built a 3000sq ft house and all of the fottings were dug with my BX22. It also dug the pads for the patio's 3, and the garage 3 car. I have also dug several hundered feet of water line trench. It will do what you want but not fast. It would take 5 to 8 housrs to dig 150ft by 14in deep depending on how hard the ground is. I like mine because it is small and a lot more manuverable than some of the larger CUTS. ....
